The Grove Primary School

Year 6 - Walnut Class

Both classes have thrown themselves into their learning, working to improve all the time. The book ‘Wonder’ has been our inspiration this term and has enabled us to produce some fantastic art work and writing - from a narrative piece to a Live News Reel - with the children producing some great work. They have also been focusing on the importance of variety to add interest and cohesion to their work. In History, the children have reflected on the lasting impact of the British Empire, including the rise and fall of trade and the legacy of the Commonwealth.

This term has also seen the election of many of the Year 6 roles from House Captains to Sports Leaders, Reading Ambassadors and Arts Ambassadors. The children play a key role in helping the school run so smoothly and enable many extra curricula opportunities across the whole school. Dressed in Spanish colours, we enjoyed celebrating European Languages Day which included children sharing their bilingual experiences. Hello Yellow Day was a great opportunity for us to think about how we look after ourselves, both mentally and physically.

What a wonderful beginning to another academic year!
