The Grove Primary School

Resource Base

Welcome to our Resource Base, here at The Grove. We are proud to share that we are a designated Communication and Interaction primary aged Resource Base. We launched our first class- Oak Class, in September 2025 and we are due to expand and open our second class in September 2026. Currently, our first class has EYFS and Y1 aged children. We have the capacity to have 10 children in each class, which means we can have a total of 20 children, as a whole Resource Base.

Our Resource Base works collaborately  with other Resource Base's in EQUA Mead Learning Trust. We also work very closely to other professionals, to ensure that we can provide the most effective, tailored support for our individuals. Some of these professionals include, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists.

We have an extremely strong team, who are approachable and are skilled in what they do. Our teaching assistants, class teacher and SEND administration are always available to help support the families. We are incredibly fortunate to work closely with our wider Inclusion Team, which includes our 2 skilled Family Link Workers.

Curriculum:

We are able to offer a number of provisions to help support our individual pupils and we make sure all of our pupils have a curriculum tailored to meet their own individual needs. We carefully review these on a regular basis with parents. As a setting, we are able to offer Attention Autism sessions, daily Stillness sessions (to help support taught methods of self- regulation), daily teeth brushing, weekly Sensory Circuits, weekly Senseology sessions, daily Makaton videos, to support with a total communication environment, personalised Speech and Language sessions (either within their integrated Continuous Provision, or separately outside of the classroom, dependent on individual needs).

We are incredibly fortunate to have fantastic provisions within our school grounds: a large, brand-new build which encompasses large classrooms, an additional visually, low demand, structured teaching space for adult led activities, toilets attached to the classrooms and individual outdoor spaces. We are able to cater for children who are still in nappies and provide changing facilities for this. We have and use the communal spaces within the main building, such as the school library, school hall, playgrounds, climbing equipment, forest and field.

Our projects are thoughtfully planned for our individuals and are themed across all the other Resource Bases in our Trust. This academic year, we have covered:
1. Are our families the same?
2. Why does our hot chocolate go cold?
3. What do farmers do?
4. How do we make a journey?
5. What does a baby butterfly look like?
