Resource Base - Oak Class

Oak class have had a phenomenal year. Our last term has been a super opportunity to apply and showcase all of the children's progress. They have made incredible relationships with each other and developed their respect and understanding of others. The strong bonds that they have made with trusted adults has been wonderful to watch and be a part of.

Our latest project- 'What is a beach?' has been full of lots of fun learning and memories. We have been learning about what a beach is like, what we can find at a beach, jobs that can be done at the beach, animals and habitats and water safety. Our Senseology sessions have enabled us all to try new experiences and overcome some anxieties about the unknown. We have been listening to various sounds including ice-cream vans, animal noises and whistles. We have been tasting different flavours of ice-cream, strawberry milkshake and salt and vinegar crisps. We have been smelling a range of items including suncream and vinegar. Applying these new experiences, outside of school, brings us all lots of joy!

Our classroom environment has been transformed into a beach scene, with 'sand' and 'ocean', along with role play from buckets and spades, dressing up, arm bands and ice-cream karts.

One of our favourite books from the term has been, 'The Snail and the Whale'. The class have enjoyed recalling the events from the story, discussing the different animals and making links to their journeys (a previous Project from the year).

We are all so incredibly proud of the children's achievements this year and cannot wait to see them continue to flourish next year!
