The Grove Primary School

Year 6

Hazel and Walnut

What an amazing term the children have had! They have been throwing themselves into their work and making amazing progress all round. As the term has unfolded, the children have immersed themselves in the WWI topic, ending with the baking of our trench biscuits! They loved the work on the Christmas Truce and the research about how animals were used in The Great War. Poems about remembrance were the perfect way for children to express their emotions and respect for those impacted by the war.

Children sang with an enthusiastic heartiness during the Y6 Christmas performance, enjoying the opportunity to perform in front of their friends and family, bringing some festive cheer to the end of term 2. It was lovely to see the children working together to make this such a special occasion.

In the middle of the term we had a visit from the Wiltshire Air Ambulance who gave invaluable advice on how to save lives. The Year 6 children thoroughly enjoyed the practical element to these sessions. As well as this, we have had three visits from our local PCSOs in which anti-social behavior, online safety and making safer choices were covered. We are so proud of our children for their input, interest and involvement during these workshops. Thank you so much to PCSO Dentry and PCSO Clifford for making this possible - it was such a fantastic opportunity.
