Year 2
Hawthorn and Almond

Year 2 have had a wonderful term learning all about the seaside. Thank you for all of the photographs you sent in. We used them in our Geography lessons to locate coastal settlements around the UK and identify the human and physical coastal features.
In Computing, the children learnt how to take effective photographs by considering the lighting and positioning of the item in the frame. Hopefully they will apply this knowledge over the festive period!
We all had an amazing (but chilly!) time during our trip to Biss Woods in Trowbridge. The children impressed the ladies from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust with their knowledge of living things and their habitats from our science lessons last term.
We are incredibly proud of the children’s performances in the nativity play. They all worked hard to practise their lines and learn the words and actions to the songs.
We finished off the term with a DT project to create the perfect Christmas smoothie. The children tasted existing products before selecting ingredients for their own smoothies. They used the skills of cutting, grating and peeling to prepare the fruits.
We also had a visit from ‘Simply Health’ to teach the children all about dental hygiene. With all the sweets and chocolate we are all bound to eat over the next few weeks, we now know how to look after our teeth and gums!
