Number 1 Programme
Our ambition at The Grove is to be the NUMBER 1 SCHOOL — in Trowbridge, in the county, in the country and beyond!
For us, being “Number 1” isn’t about competition; it’s about every child striving to become the best version of themselves. We encourage all pupils to work hard, develop their character, and embrace their unique strengths. As a community, we support one another to make our school the very best it can be and to ensure every moment in school truly matters.
What is the Number 1 Programme?
Our Number 1 Programme brings this ambition to life. It is woven into daily school life through assemblies, lessons, discussions and our whole-school culture. Each academic year we choose a key focus so that pupils can explore important themes in depth and understand how these ideas can help them grow.
Last year, we explored the protected characteristics, learning about diversity, equality, and the importance of treating everyone with respect. Pupils learned that we are all unique and that no one should ever face discrimination.
This year (2025/26), our focus is on The Grove School Values. Recent pupil-voice activities showed us that not all children felt confident explaining our values or describing what they look like in action. This year’s programme will help our pupils understand, use and live out these values every day.

Celebrating Our Community
The Grove is a wonderfully diverse community, and we are proud of the differences that make each of us unique. Through the Number 1 Programme, we aim to nurture pupils who are confident, compassionate and empathetic—young people who celebrate individuality and contribute positively to Modern Britain.
