Life in Maple Class

We all loved science week and got involved in two science experiments. The first, was creating our own slime. The second, was a rather smelly experiment placing hard boiled eggs into different liquids to observe what happens to their shells. We found that vinegar and fizzy drinks dissolved the shells and subsequently would be bad for your teeth!

We all know how important it is to look after the environment by using the mantra reduce, reuse, recycle! Our ‘My Ideal World’ DT project this term was made entirely by reusing items from The Scrapstore. This saved a huge amount of scrap going into landfill. We all loved our workshop run by Sara and felt so lucky to welcome her into our school. This consolidated our work from Geography about reducing ocean plastic pollution.

For a majority of the term we have been studying newspapers. For our end of unit project, we researched koality koalas around the world. We drafting and perfected our newspapers and then ‘published’ our amazing articles by typing them up on Word. We were all so proud of our work!

As ever in Year 4, we have been working so hard on our times tables and all have made outstanding progress. We will all keep working hard towards our goal for learning all our times tables up to 12 x 12!
