Life in Almond Class

We have had a busy term in Year 2! We have enjoyed getting stuck into our Topic, ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!’. We have completed a wide range of written pieces such as letters, reports, postcards and explanation texts! We have been impressed at the children’s growing stamina for writing. We have also learnt a lot about the history of seaside holidays in Britain. A highlight of our term was our trip to Trowbridge Museum where we got to dress up in Victorian clothes and interact with lots of historical artefacts. The children enjoyed getting out and about in the local area for the first time since starting at The Grove.

We have been learning lots of new and interesting concepts in Maths, such as fractions, shape and telling the time. The children have embraced these challenges and are getting much more confident with their mathematical skills!

In Science we completed some exciting experiments to see what plants needed to grow. We enjoyed putting our predictions to the test and were fascinated by the results!

We are looking forward to an inspiring and action packed term after the Easter break and the children are already getting excited about their new topic- ‘Antarctica’! Let’s hope the weather isn’t as chilly though!
